Benefits of the Resilience Project
In addition to supplying students with resources to support their organisation and time management, it is a central focus of practising the positive mental health techniques of Appreciation, Empathy, and Mindfulness of the Resilience Project every day. This is aimed at cultivating the healthy behaviours of primary learners and enhancing their overall well-being.
To assist them in building their resilience, primary-aged learners will be able to access age-appropriate emotional literacy practises, kindness exercises, mindfulness assignments, and safe habit monitoring.
What is It
The Resilience Project is an innovative school- and community-based initiative designed to promote the mental health and well-being of adolescents. It provides support to students, parents, educators, counsellors and communities through collaboration with school personnel, customized educational programming and improved access to treatment resources.
Why the Resilience Project
Good mental health is not just the absence of illness, but instead the presence of well-being. Resilience – the ability to cope and adapt in the setting of adversity – is one measure of mental health. Every individual has a capacity for resilience, but it needs nurturing and cultivation through childhood, and into adulthood. Parents, peers and other caring adults play vital roles in helping to cultivate resilience in children and adolescents.
Wrapping Up
Schools are where children and adolescents spend most of their waking time and are the place where they connect with peers and caring adults other than their parents. Beyond academics, schools play a leading role in each child’s emotional, social, behavioural and cognitive development. Schools also serve as important resources when our youth are managing mental health challenges.
